After a lifetime of bounties and bloodshed, Viv is hanging up her sword. The battle-weary orc aims to start afresh, opening the city of Thune’s first-ever coffee shop. But old and new rivals stand in the way of success, not to mention the fact that no one has the faintest idea what coffee actually is.
If Viv wants to put the blade behind her and make her dreams a reality, she won’t be able to go it alone. After all, the true rewards of an uncharted path are the travelers you meet along the way. And whether they are drawn together by ancient magic, flaky pastry, or a freshly brewed cup―Viv may find something deeper here than she ever imagined…
This full-color graphic novel adaptation brings the high fantasy and low stakes of this beloved story to vibrant life as it’s never been seen before.

The Legends & Lattes series has three books and they are all standalones in the same world (I believe). I would absolutely love to read the others in graphic novel format.
⚠️ I have not read the books just this graphic novel.
The Basics
Art: 5/5
The art was stunning, but the overall panel design really blew me away. There was one section where the panels were in the coffee steam… The artist really went above and beyond.
Characters: 4/5 • Plot/Story: 3/5 • Writing/Dialogue: 4/5
(except for Thimble who is a 5/5)
This started slow, almost too slow, to the point where I thought I was once again bamboozled by a popular booktok book. However, I’m really glad I stuck with it because this graphic novel really had a way of pulling me in.
This is a supposedly a high fantasy, think taverns illuminated by candles…. *MC pulls out espresso machine*… It was silly but it also somehow worked(?). I had to stop reading a few times to make myself a cup of coffee. The world was definitely the best part.
It’s overall a really nice and cozy read. I do think because this is a single volume and had so many characters, it struggled with depth and having well-developed characters/the romance between Viv & Tandri.
My biggest gripe is this is wordy (not necessarily in a bad way). However, I would highly recommend reading the physical copy or using a large e-reader. My eyes were killing me while trying to read this on my phone.
Extras:
I put 13+ for ages… It doesn’t have anything explicit, but requires a decent reading level.
Sweetness 5/5
for thimble alone
Second-hand embarrassment: 0/5
Would I recommend?
Yes, especially if you loved the books or if just want a light fantasy read with beautiful art.
I don’t think I’ll try the books (I could be convinced), but without the beautiful art I don’t know if the story could hold my attention.
Legends & Lattes:
📌 low stakes
📌 found family
📌 cozy read
📌sapphic
📌high fantasy
