I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Ever since I moved out of the States, I get major FOMO around Halloween since it’s not really a big celebration here. Some people go out drinking and dress up, but there’s no decorating or anything like that. However, no one can stop me from putting up a tree for Christmas, lol. Anyway, here’s what I’ll be reading this month…
Current Read:
Twisted Loyalties (Knights of the Twisted Tree Book 2) by Barbara J. Webb

Korin has found a new home and new friends, and the past seems safely behind him. But there are reasons Teriad never stayed in one place.
Korin never wanted the attention of other wizards, and he certainly doesn’t want any part in wizard politics, but he may not have a choice as people in the city start to get hurt. Ádan may be able to help, but only if Korin can accept the truths he learned about Ádan and his friends.
As threats around them grow, Korin and Ádan both must decide where their loyalties lie, and if ancient obligations will overwhelm their devotion to each other.
I picked this up on NetGalley; it’s the second in a series and I’ve already reviewed the first book (review here). I rated the first book three stars, but when I saw the sequel on NetGalley, I remembered the first book vividly. Since I’m such a huge fan of how this author builds her worlds, I decided to give the second book a try. I’ll be posting a review soon!
TBR:
Hungry Heart (Volume 1)

The humdrum life of an aspiring food writer changes when he meets a famous celebrity chef. Based on the hit webcomic, Hungry Heart is a sweet, queer rom-com that explores self-discovery, identity, and acceptance.
Laurie, a plucky young writer, gets his big break interviewing hearthrob chef Oryan Adjei. Laurie has idolized Oryan since watching him in the Great British Kitchen Trials on television, back when they were both teens. However, Oryan’s life is lonelier than it seems from the outside, and his career has taken a direction he isn’t sure he wants to continue. Laurie seems to get Oryan in a way few others do. Despite their attempts to keep things professional, the two begin to bond over cheesesteaks, flat whites, and stolen hors d’oeuvres. Can Laurie overcome his self-doubt and anxious head while navigating the attention Oryan receives? Mutual feelings grow, but the pair find themselves in a pressure cooker of celebrity and scandal that threatens their chance at romance.
This one just looked so cute. I’m excited to read it this month~
The Foxhole Court (All for the Game)

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He’s short, he’s fast, he’s got a ton of potential — and he’s the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as The Butcher. Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile and he doesn’t need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny and the truth will get him killed. But Neil’s not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil’s new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can’t walk away from him a second time. Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he’s finally found someone and something worth fighting for.
I just received my special editions from Rainbow Crate, so I’ll probably start rereading the series this month. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post an unboxing of these beautiful new editions soon!

I have heard others talk about the Foxhole Court books and it makes me curious.
Hope you enjoy your books.
