Firstly, this review is completely biased and definitely probably does not deserve only 1 star for the gorgeous artwork alone. However, I have never felt this level of unholy rage after finishing a webtoon. It’s like scorched earth level—absolutely no way the author just finished it like that. I’m talking about almost isekai-ing myself into this webtoon by sending the author a strongly worded email about how she should’ve ended it, rather than whatever that dumpster fire of an ending was.

All the spoilers because I’m angry

Kim Minhu

The poor bottom, who is essentially manipulated and used not only by the crazy top but by literally everyone around him, even as he is actively dying. He just wanted to go home but instead developed Stockholm syndrome. 19 years old.

Sioen

27 years old. Raised in a fantasy world where killing is the norm, his toxicity and manipulation go beyond red flags into astronomical levels of debauchery. And just when you think maybe he can redeem himself a bit, it just gets a million times worse.

The Ending

Alright, the world-building and fantasy aspects were actually pretty good, and the artwork and clothing were amazing. However, so many plotlines were left unanswered and unresolved. Many random or even important side characters that received a decent amount of screen time just ended. No spinoffs, no side stories, just ended.

Sieon and Lian are both so obsessed with Minhu that they would rather trick him into dying in their world, ensuring he’ll never be able to return to his own. They are literally forcing him to reincarnate in their world, making him suffer all over again.

Another thing that really frustrated me is that all of Minhu’s maids adored him, yet not one of them told him the truth. It wasn’t as if only one person was privy to the information; it felt like every single character in the story knew what Sioen was planning, and yet, Minhu didn’t manage to find out even a crumb of information.

It was just such an unsatisfying and rage-inducing ending, I was shocked. Actual text message I sent my friend after finishing, “I just read the most infuriating piece of literature…you mean you built this fantasy world and had me eating it up and then you just end it and nothing is resolved?”

Other things I hated

Randomly added not actual incest incest???

Sieon giving Minhu an absolutely ginormous tattoo and him just never finding out about it?

The fact that literally everyone in this is a terrible person.

I’m pretty sure this is based on a Korean novel, and out of pure spite, I might get fluent in Korean real quick, read the novel to figure out how it was actually supposed to end just so I can get some actual closure, and then leave a bad review on Lezhin.

Anyways, don’t forget to support the author by reading the officials on Manta 🥹✌️
