Rus doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with punching bigots. Some call it anger issues or impulse control; he sees it as clearing away the cesspool of hateful idiots. All the same, he doesn’t want his rage to control him or push away the two people he’s beginning to care deeply for.
Dylan’s façade of joy is so masterful, he even deceives himself most days. Underneath that worn smile, though, is a frightened man who doesn’t trust the world. Now, he has to navigate taking care of the queer youth home that gave him a life worth living while exploring the life he’d like to live if he wants to pursue romance in this new relationship.
Kaiden struggles to accept himself, wayward and insecure most days. So, when two men express how much they see him, he feels like a complete and total imposter. He’s convinced himself this awkward throuple would be a much happier couple if he took a step back. But despite his reservations, he doesn’t want to give up.
These three will have to come together, work through their personal fears, and be real with one another if they hope to explore this romance.

Lovable Characters
The writing in a MN Bennet book is always fine. There’s nothing overly flashy about the prose here, which I think makes sense for contemporary (in this context). However, this author in particular is just really good at writing characters with depth… even when they are not so believable as real people.
Somehow the guy with the goose tattoo on his neck felt extremely real and authentic, like at any moment he would crawl out of the book and become a real person, and I’d be like, “Oh, hey Rus”.
Of course the other two are written with just as much breadth and while I do wish we got a bit more of Dylan… I can’t complain too much. BUT IF THE AUTHOR SEES THIS… PLZ WE NEED MORE TRIPLE POV THIRD PERSON BOOKS.
Overall
I do think this could’ve used a teeny tiny bit of a leaner edit to reduce some overlap between the POVS, and maybe added a bit more drama within the trio. UGH to be a fly on the wall during editing for a triple pov… I’m sure that was a TASK, haha.
This is a fairly long book (I think idk read on ereader) with slow pacing, but it’s not boring.
I had just finished George Falls Through Time (review here), which was a great and miserable read, so I actually think I started reading this at the perfect time because this was such an easy and sweet read.
Well it’s not all sweet, it is called Politics and Poly, and Rus ends up meeting Dylan and Kaiden while doing community service after punching bigots in the face.
The Politics
⬇️minor spoilers be here⬇️
This book goes over quite a few issues, including Kaiden being beaten for being gay and a right wing influencer. Although this is fiction it is still a tough read, because dealing with bigots in 2026 is exhausting.
I kinda debated if I wanted to make a political statement here. I do not and have not lived in America for some time now, and I often find a lot of the posts on instagram, tiktok, threads to be somewhat performative even if they are sincere. Making a post on a platform where basically everyone holds the same beliefs is about as effective as screaming into the void. Of course there are exceptions to this.
Anyways, I mention this because this is one of the reasons why I loved Dylan. Despite not having much of a social media presence he shows up everyday for his community and actually puts in the work. I really needed that reminder that showing up for your community in even a small way is more effective than any social media post.
I also loved the author’s note at the end, “Whether you’re a queer person or an ally, please remember to take in joy where you can find it, stand strong with your support, and don’t let bigots bully you into silence.”
In Conclusion
If you want a book that deals with real issues but also has a tender and sweet relationship between the MCs, including how they tackle said issues, this book is for you.
