Perfect for fans of cozy LGBTQ+ romance like Heartstopper and Bloom, this slice-of-life rom-com by debut creator Moosopp is the sunshiny story of Marcus and Cog falling for each other.

They’re crushing, there’s chemistry, and they’re totally clueless.

Marcus has a crush, and Cog is completely unprepared for the hijinks that follow. Hopefully in their efforts to grow closer, they can brighten each other’s day.

It’s senior year and Marcus and Cog, two students from different friend groups, just started hanging out. Between Marcus making lunch for Cog, Cog walking Marcus home, and accidental paper-eating incidents, they start to see one another in a new light.

Marcus is a wholesome sweetheart and Cog is easily overwhelmed, so who knows how long it will take for either of them to confess their crush. But as long as Marcus and Cog get to spend time together, they don’t mind taking their time.

Just overall a cuteness overload.

“Daybreak is a side story to Sunshine Boy posted exclusively to Webtoons. There is no linear story, the comic is composed of shenanigans between two wholesome goofs crushing on each other. Marcus & Cog are the leads of Daybreak. Some of you will recognize Marcus as Grey’s reliable older godbrother. Cog is a would-be actor easily overwhelmed by minimal flirting.” -from the creator (link)

I’m honestly having a bit of a hard time giving a more in-depth review since the plot/story is similar to the set up in 19 days (I’ve only read a few chapters when they were being posted on twitter/x, however, I don’t really use that account anymore). But Daybreak is like the extra cute & wholesome version of shenanigansSo, don’t go into this one expecting a more fleshed out storyline, otherwise you might be disappointed.

I just had a lot of fun reading this one! I mean it’s just so adorable and was exactly I wanted to read. Plus, I did NOT have to suffer through any second-hand embarrassment, which is a huge win for me. I settled on 5 hearts for this one because there’s not much going on in terms of story/plot but I still absolutely loved it. So, 5 hearts rather than stars! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The dialogue between the characters is god-tier in cuteness. Seriously, its so well-done. & I haven’t even mentioned the art yet, which is of course adorable and suits the characters so well. This might be a favorite of the year for me….

Cog just nonchalantly has the most …ahh how do the kids say it these days…rizz?

My one and only gripe: “Karaoking”

*I KNEW IT! IT ISN’T IN THE DICTIONARY.* -I had to look it up it was bothering me so much 😂

Is this like a regional thing, do people use it like this: ‘come karaoking with us’? I live abroad so I always just say noraebang 노래방 (Korean Karaoke). I NEED TO KNOW. Is this just like a cute quirk in the book or do people actually use it lolol

Daybreak:

📌grumpyish x sunshine

📌low stakes

📌diverse characters

📌no spice, not even a smooch (in this vol.)

📌did I mention it’s extremely cute?
