College student Gen plays guitar in a rock band called Eve. At a gig one night, he meets a man named Mike. Mike’s the kind of person who has no trouble saying what’s on his mind, and Gen soon finds himself captivated by this smooth, handsome voice. The next day, the two meet again when they realize they go to the same college. Be it on stage or in casual conversation, Gen finds himself more and more captivated by Mike’s voice. The more time the two spend together, the more Gen realizes it’s more than just Mike’s voice he’s attracted to…

The Basics:

Characters: 5/5

  • grumpy x sunshine
  • Not only did I enjoy the main characters, but I really loved the side characters too.
  • Mike and Gen had great chemistry, and I loved reading about them.

Art: 5/5

  • I love a smug/happy expression.

  • This panel alone made it a 5/5 for me haha

  • The art isn’t particularly unique or overly flashy in this manga, but I just loved all the facial expressions so much…

Story/Plot: 5/5

  • It’s simple, light, and really good.
  • It’s a oneshot so it is a bit fast-paced, but I really liked the ending even if everything felt a bit rushed.
  • Definitely not for people who are wanting something in-depth but rather something short and sweet.

Writing/Dialogue: 5/5

  • The translation/localization were well done.
  • There was no overly cringy dialogue…everyone acted like actual college-aged human beings.

Extras:

❌Giggles❌ ➡️ Sweetness: 5/5

  • This wasn’t a comedy so not many giggles outside once or twice but it sure was sweet.

Spice level: 3/5

  • Although it’s just one scene…it is uncensored and relatively short. Honestly, I mean I didn’t hate it, but I’m still kinda on the fence about whether it was necessary or not. I mean it was a wholsome sex scene? but it did make it feel even more fast-paced.

Secondhand Embarrassment: 0/5

  • Thank god.

In Conclusion:

5 stars! I loved the dynamic between Gen, the grumpy, kinda oblivious guitarist, and Mika, the sunshine who’s always been a little obsessed with him.

tldr: Shout Loud, My Heart is quick read full of sweetness and perfect for readers who love bands and light hearted romance.
