Rating: 5 out of 5.

College student Yeo Eui-joon works the graveyard shift at a convenience store to pay his bills. The shift sucks, but the money’s good, and the customers—mostly mobsters and hoodlums—don’t cause too much trouble. That might be due to Gunwoo, a tall, hunky gangster who frequents the store for booze and cigarettes. He’s scarier than the rest of the clientele, but seems to have a soft spot for Eui-joon, defending him from the more volatile customers. Could there be more behind Gunwoo’s protective actions? And if so, is Eui-joon prepared to be a part of Gunwoo’s violent world?

Art Style: 10/10. It’s definitely in the webtoon style, but the art also has this more paper-like feeling to it. It makes me really want to buy the physical copy because I feel like it would translate really well.

Spice: plenty

Euijoon

(this review is spoiler free)

Our cinnamon roll crybaby uke is an extremely adorable and likable character, and also a poor hardworking student (obviously).

He’s a bit of an airhead, but that works well for the romantic comedy aspect. However, I liked that he knew when to draw the line and wasn’t someone to be easily taken advantage of.

Beom Gunwoo

aka ahjuicyyy

An extremely straightforward gangster with a crush on the college student who works at the convenience store.

Surprisingly, a good listener, but only if you’re Euijoon.

Literally everyone’s dream top.

“If I like you, that means I’m fucking gay.”

Flawless Execution

Other authors should take notes on how to keep a story interesting without making one of the characters a ginormous red flag. Seriously, that trope gets so old when it’s literally every BL webtoon: a top that is just a literal scumbag and a bottom that just goes along with it and doesn’t stand up for himself… //shhh don’t tell anyone I preordered the 1st edition of Low Tide in Twilight.

It does tend to slow down a bit in later chapters, but I was already so invested in the characters that I didn’t mind.

The manhwa is also just extremely nonchalantly funny. Like it’s not super focused on the comedy aspect, but there are some parts where I was giggling and other parts where I was giggling and kicking my feet.

“I’m assuming it’s not your money” -Euijoon

“It’s mine if I fucking stole it.” -Beom

” I mean, pay attention to me. What kind of person I am…and how I treat you. If you’re satisfied, then choose me.” -Beom
