The Best of 2023
The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson

Yes, you should read The Stormlight Archive. No, there is no chance of it disappointing you. And if you want more than that, here’s a detailed list of everything Brandon Sanderson is epically good at (and a few things he’s not – after all, what kind of blogger would I be…)
GodKiller by Hannah Kaner

A perfect fantasy book, in the archetypal sense: perfectly plotted, familiar yet creative. Attention has been paid to all the little things, and as a result, this is one of the most satisfying, enjoyable books I expect to read all year. It reminded me why I fell in love with reading in the first place. Here’s why.
Webtoon Edition
Stuck in My Sister’s Dating Sim

Finally, we are starting to get some good BL webtoon transmigration/isekai/etc.
Season 2 has begun and it is already getting steamy~
The Worst
It should come as no surprise that I am a hater. Since I’m constantly blaming tiktok for all the horrible book reccomendations
Zodiac Academy (The Series)

The first book I rated 1 star but was feeling generous and gave the series as a whole 2 stars.
Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti have created one of the most chronically online series I’ve ever read. This series is so cringe. Riddled with typos and missing commas and grammatical snafus, sure. But the concept itself is silly—a magic academy that centers the signs of the Zodiac—and it only gets worse from there.
& finally maybe a little surprising considering I love high fantasy…
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

I found the MC deeply annoying, the women (few that there were) underdeveloped, the magic system derivative, and the conflict cookie-cutter.
I felt I was a bit lax on book reviews this year, opting to explore other types of posts. However, I’m looking forward to dedicating more time to book reviews in 2024. I hope you all had a great 2023 and that all your dreams come true this year~
