Welcome to the Day 1 roundup! I got up to page 116 yesterday–which is saying something, because no, there isn’t a chapter break or even a scene break there. I just wasn’t interested enough, so I stopped.

That said, I do have one big note. Feyre is now staying at Tamlin’s court and we’re getting our first glimpses of Tamlin and Lucien. Hindsight, coloured by the following ACOTAR books, has lied to me. How could I have forgotten how hot Lucien is?? He’s wry, mocking but not in a cruel way, and he’s got that idgaf edge that can instantly draw me to MMCs.

One of my biggest goals in the reread of ACOTAR in particular was to focus on Lucien, since I was too focused on Tamlin the first time around. And now that I am…well, let’s just say that I’m a fan.

Everything is still sounding so classically faerie, as opposed to how I think of the Maas-iverse now, and I’m finding it charming. Right now in the book, I’m feeling settled in to enjoy the Beauty and the Beast retelling that this first book truly is (because wow it leans into that a lot more than I remember as well.)

p.s. I actually think it’s refreshing that Feyre is illiterate and has had to teach herself all she knows; not only is it realistic given the life she’s had, but for once we have an FMC who’s not obsessed with books! (If you’ve read the series, you know we’ll get that FMC eventually…)

Let me know what you think!
